Deep Cleaning Checklist: Everything a Regular Clean Misses

Baseboards, door frames, blinds, scale and lime, and behind the furniture: the deep cleaning checklist for the build-up that collects over months.

A regular clean keeps a home at its standard. A deep clean gets it there. It’s the corners, edges and build-up that collect over months: the things you stop noticing until they’re done. Here’s what a deep clean covers, room by room.

Throughout the house

  • Baseboards, wiped along their full length, corners included.
  • Door frames and doors, top edges too.
  • Light switches and outlet covers, every one.
  • Blinds, slat by slat, and the window sills under them.
  • Behind and under accessible furniture: the sofa, the beds, the side tables.
  • Ceiling fans, vents and the tops of door and window trim.

Kitchen

  • Cabinet fronts, handles and the toe kicks along the floor.
  • The backsplash, grout lines included.
  • The outside of every appliance, plus the gaps beside the stove.
  • The sink and faucet, descaled where water spots have built up.
  • Inside the oven and inside the fridge, if they need it.

Bathrooms

  • Scale and lime on the shower glass, the faucets and the showerhead.
  • Tile and grout in the shower and around the tub.
  • The toilet, all the way down to the base and behind it.
  • The vanity, inside the edges of the sink and around the drain.
  • The exhaust fan cover.

Bedrooms and living areas

  • Under the beds, and the headboards and bed frames.
  • Lamps and lampshades.
  • The tops of wardrobes, shelves and picture frames.
  • Floors, edge to edge, moving what can be moved.

What a deep clean doesn’t include

A deep clean is thorough, not a renovation. Washing whole walls, steam cleaning carpets and moving heavy furniture are separate jobs, and it helps to know that before you book anyone.

How often to deep clean

Most homes benefit from a deep clean once a season: in spring, before the holidays and after a busy summer, with regular cleaning in between to keep the standard. A move, a new baby or guests on the way are good reasons too. More on that in our FAQs.

Our first visit is always a deep clean

Every new client with us starts with a deep clean, because that’s how we bring a home up to our standard once, so every visit after keeps it there. It includes baseboards, door frames, blinds and light switches, scale and lime in the bathrooms, and behind and under accessible furniture, plus kitchens, bathrooms, floors and dusting throughout, from $260 for a home with up to two bedrooms and one bathroom. Inside the oven and inside the fridge are add-ons, $40 each.
